We are thrilled to announce that Josh Porcell, UMBC, Ohio Machine (MLL), Jacksonville Bullies (PLL) will be joining us this Sunday at our lacrosse clinic from 3:00-4:00PM. Josh has a great story about his path playing lacrosse and his experiences at UMBC, and playing in the MLL and NLL. Josh graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and didn’t start playing lacrosse until high school. From high school Josh went off to Bridgton Academy to further his skill and academics. Recruited heavily to play D1 lacrosse out of Bridgton, Josh didn’t make the NCAA clearinghouse and decided to go to Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. Determined to play against the best players in the country – Josh worked hard academically and on the lacrosse field to transfer to CCBC Essex in Baltimore, MD.
After Essex, Josh was recruited to UMBC where he would start at midfield and go on with the Retrievers to appear in two NCAA tournaments and make school history by helping lead his team to the university’s first NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 2007. In the 2008 MLL Supplemental Draft Josh was picked up to the Boston Cannons in the 5th Round 46th overall. More recently Josh has been selected in the 2011 Supplemental Draft to Play for the Ohio Machine. Josh was also selected to play in for the Jacksonville Bullies in the NALL for the upcoming 2012 season. Spring 2011, Josh helped coach his High School Alma Mata Saratoga Springs Varsity Lacrosse Team. In Spring 2010 Josh was the Assistant Coach at Skidmore College and helped lead the Thoroughbreds to the Liberty League Championship. During the 2010 season for Skidmore Josh coached 3 players to All-American honors. In 2011 Josh went on to help coach his high school alma mater Saratoga Springs. Josh took on responsibilities as the Assistant Coach for the Boys Varsity Team. Over the past year Josh has been training hard to join the military. Josh has decided to serve his country by joining the United States Army. It has been a goal of Josh’s to serve his country since childhood.
We are honored to have Josh as our guest coach this weekend.
